During their sleep.. 6 people did things that you would never imagine!

Have you ever seen someone talking or walking while sleeping? Sleepwalking is a common disorder affecting up to 4% of adults. However, some can do much more than just talk or walk in their sleep. In this article, here are some of the craziest things people have done while asleep

Sending strange messages

A New York Times article recounted the experience of a woman who sent several emails over an eight-minute period at midnight while she was asleep. The newspaper also noted that all the messages contained "capital letters, unusual punctuation and spelling errors," with the subject of one message being "Help me please HELP ME P-LEEEEESE," followed by an invitation to "dinner and drinks" in another message. Her friends were baffled by these emails, while the woman did not remember sending any of them!

Walking nine miles

Walking a mile is tough enough when you're fully awake, but a woman in Colorado managed to walk nine times that distance while asleep! According to an ABC News article, 19-year-old Taylor Gammel was "missing for hours one morning before she woke up miles from her home."

However, she later told the police she didn't remember her sleepwalking journey, despite walking approximately nine miles (14.5 kilometers) from her home in Denver. She was also found still wearing her pajamas and without shoes. Since she was found without an ID, wallet, or money, the article suggests that the possibility of her taking a bus or car ride is unlikely. Fortunately, she managed to return home safely.

Eating snacks

Eating while sleeping is a common problem, and although the condition might seem funny, it's a confusing experience. According to an ABC News article, more than a million people have witnessed this unusual eating pattern, most of them women. However, the reasons for eating while sleeping are still not fully known.

The article interviewed a woman named Amy Kushler, who suffers from this condition. According to the article, "after falling asleep, Kushler would wake up and go to the kitchen almost every night, find a snack and eat it, without ever waking up."

Jumping from a height of 21 kilometers

Ryan Campbell was camping with his friends and slept in a hammock. Shortly after falling asleep, he started sleepwalking. His friends watched him walk over a nearby cliff and fall from a height of (21 kilometers), and he was found by officers with few injuries. Rescuers noted that Campbell's safe landing happened because he landed on a shrub rather than the scattered rocks in the area.

While he fully recovered, he promised that from then on, he wouldn't plan to put himself in such a situation again. Therefore, those who sleepwalk consider Campbell's experience as a warning not to sleep near high places!

Drawing while sleeping

Lee Hadwin is an interesting case, as his artistic ability can only be harnessed when he is asleep! When Lee Hadwin was four years old, he "scribbled on walls." While this behavior is not surprising for a child, one thing made him different: he was asleep when he did it. In his interview with the BBC, Hadwin said about his drawing talent, "The strange thing is that I have no artistic talent in my waking life and it only happens while I'm asleep."

Cooking food

A former chef discovered that his habit of sleepwalking had turned into cooking food while sleeping. As difficult as it sounds, the Daily Mail reported that 55-year-old Robert Wood said he "wakes up four or five times a week while sleeping and heads to the kitchen where he would make omelets and quick-fried dishes. However, as great as it may seem to be able to skillfully cook recipes while asleep, it was a frightening experience for Wood and his wife.

Wood is seeking medical help amid fears of possibly burning down his house. So, as amazing as the concept of becoming a chef while sleeping might seem, it is important to remember the dangers of doing certain things while sleepwalking!
